Our 2024 Day of Remembrance events were filled with food and music this year. Renowned musical artist, Kishi Bashi, screened Omoiyari: A Song Film By Kishi Bashi with live musical performances after the film in Boise, Twin Falls, and the Wood River Valley. Kishi Bashi also held a Master Class with College of Southern Idaho music students who performed with him at the Twin Falls event. He also held an open rehearsal at One Stone School in Boise with students, families, and faculty in attendance.

In addition to the screening of Omoiyari, we offered five extraordinary experiences of storytelling through food with 2023 James Beard Award winner Kris Komori of KIN Boise. Guests dined on a unique nine course food and beverage menu designed by Komori and the KIN team which paid tribute to the 13,000 Japanese Americans unjustly incarcerated at Minidoka during WWII. For Komori, a descendant of Japanese Canadian incarcerees, this menu held deep significance. For diners, it was an incredibly moving and communal experience to hear the inspiration for each dish and the dedication and care taken by the KIN Boise team to research, develop, and implement the meals.
