2023 in Review
It's been a busy year full of preservation, protection, and education here at the Friends of Minidoka. We've welcomed new staff members, built our programming and support for the Minidoka National Historic Site, wrote and received large grants to pursue ambitious projects for 2024 and beyond, advocated for long-term protections for MNHS, and so much more.

Community Connection and Education:

Preservation Milestones:
Nisei Trials: 80 Years project received grant funding from the Idaho Humanities Council, Japanese American Community Foundation, and the Civil Liberties Symposium at Boise State University.
Beyond the Barbed Wire: Japanese American Stories of the Pacific Northwest three year project received grant funding from the Mellon Foundation.
Day of Remembrance 2024 - Nationally acclaimed artist Kishi Bashi is coming to Boise, Twin Falls, and Ketchum to perform. Get tickets for an event here!
Ongoing Protection Efforts:
Lava Ridge — A third of our organizational efforts these past two years has been dedicated to the fight for long term protections.
Attending all of the open houses, BLM meetings, etc.
Hosting educational sessions at the site with community members and journalists
