Courage and Compassion Teacher Training in Idaho

Join Friends of Minidoka, the National Park Service, the Go For Broke Education Center and the Idaho State Museum for a two-day teacher professional development on July 24 - 25, 2024. This workshop, designed for 4-12 grade Idaho teachers, focuses on methods of teaching the Japanese American Experience during World War II — object-based learning, place based learning, and learning from primary sources. The professional development will include access to the Courage and Compassion exhibit at the Idaho State Museum and a field trip to Minidoka National Historic Site. Teachers will hear from subject-matter experts and guest speakers about the Japanese American World War II experience. Educators will receive instruction and resources for teaching about the historic Minidoka War Relocation Center and Japanese American incarceration in the 21st century.

Teachers are also eligible for a travel stipend (first come, first served) ranging from $200 - $600 based on their distance from the Idaho State Museum.  You can learn more and register for this workshop here.
