Volunteer Day at Minidoka National Historic Site

By Camille Daw, Programs and Outreach Manager

This past May, Friends of Minidoka and the National Park Service shared our Saturday morning with volunteers from all over Idaho. Together, we learned what it takes to preserve and protect Minidoka National Historic Site. Volunteers shared their own ties to Minidoka and what maintaining the site means to our community today.

Many of our volunteers weeded and raked the Baseball Field, recreated by Friends of Minidoka in 2008 during our “Field in a Day” community project. Several others took on the important task of cleaning all of the waysides on the walking trail around the park.

Our community continues to demonstrate the importance of Minidoka’s legacy to the lives of individuals and the dedication to preserving the site today.

Thank you to those of you who volunteered!

Photos were taken by College of Southern Idaho photography students Justin Morris and Adam Fluke.
